Join us to explore the 10 essential practices associated with True Thriving™. Vibrant health of the whole person goes beyond stress management, it centers on life-style shifts that allow us to truly thrive.
Studies show that stress can worsen or increase the risk of conditions like obesity, heart disease, Alzheimer's, diabetes, depression, gastrointestinal problems, and asthma. Stress management techniques have been helpful with such conditions. However, the effects of stress management are limited until deeper life-style shifts are implemented that facilitate a vibrancy in health.
For more than 25 years, Drs. Doug Moore & Kathleen Corcoran have been researching, studying, practicing, and teaching the many different skills and daily practices people need to develop in order to thrive. Their collaboration, called True Thriving™
, delineates and teaches the 10 essential practices to create vibrant and resilient health.
These practices include:
Change from Surviving to Thriving™, Transform Your Emotions, Rewire Your Brain, Balance the Energies of Your Heart, Mind & Body, and Return to Balance.
Drs. Corcoran and Moore have integrated the concepts of brain science, contemporary psychology & the wisdom of eastern methods into a comprehensive system that is foundational to our personal growth and transformation.
The two-day workshop/retreat will be an in-depth exploration and experience of the 10 essential practices. Come explore your potential for True Thriving™.
is applicable to holistic practitioners and the general public interested in exploring how to truly thrive for vibrant health and not just get by in life. CEUs (12 for workshop/retreat)
are available to those participants who are psychologists, counselors, social workers, and marriage and family counselors in Ohio. Other licensed & certified practitioners may submit program materials to their professional organization for continuing education credit. CEUs are provided by the Conscious Living Consortium.
The workshop will provide the participants with:
1. Understanding of 10 essential practices for True Thriving™
2. Experience in mindfulness, meditation, and self-inquiry
3. Skills to convert reactive, survival based habits into proactive, thriving practices.
4. A set of methods to balance foundational and maladaptive energies
5. An appreciation of 9 life strategies associated with the Enneagram

Water… Nature’s Natural Elixir for Holistic Health
More details coming soon!
Welcome to the American Holistic Medical Association (AHMA) in Northeast Ohio! We are a group of doctors, licensed practitioners, students, and supporters who are all interested in holistic health. We embrace the principles of holistic medicine that integrate conventional and complementary therapies to promote optimal health for the whole person – body, mind, and spirit.
There is tremendous interest in holistic health throughout the NE region of Ohio. The major hospitals have integrated wellness programs, doctors are practicing acupuncture, and licensed practitioners from psychologists to massage therapists are integrating energy-based methods into their work. Based on the years of experience of our members and engaging networking events, we know that people are increasingly looking for practitioners who offer holistic health services. We are thrilled to support and promote this movement.
Over the past few years the AHMA NE Ohio chapter has sponsored a number of educational and networking opportunities for its members and the community. For example, we hosted a series of talks about the holistic heart, holistic brain, and holistic psychiatry. In addition, we co-sponsored a screening of the documentary, Forks Over Knives, which makes a well-researched and profound case for the health advantages of a plant-based diet.
In addition to continuing to offer educational opportunities, we are launching a new initiative to strengthen networking among the practitioners. A community forum is being designed for the website that will allow members to share information about their services, new programs, upcoming presentations, and recent publications.
You are invited to contact any of the board members for more information about AHMA in NE Ohio. Please sign our e-newsletter list so you can be informed of upcoming events. We hope to meet you at one of the upcoming meetings!
