(Or, if you are among our new members, feel welcomed!) We also welcome four nominees to the 2015 class of the AHMA board. You are in good company, joining a historic organization dedicated to the practice of medicine from the heart.
This is the last step of a goal I made for myself a few years ago, when I decided to become a doctor. I thought it would be wise to build a like-minded community for support and inspiration, so I set out to learn about integrative medicine from students, policymakers and practicing physicians before I began my own formal training.
"Can naturopaths deliver complementary preventive medicine?" Thus ran the headline in a recent editorial in the Canadian Medical Association Journal.

The editorial was written in reference to the publication in the same edition of a randomized clinical trial led by Dugald Seely, N.D. Seely and 13 colleagues, most from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, published their findings that individualized, whole person-oriented naturopathic care produced reduced cardiovascular risk for a group of Canadian postal workers.
In my healing path since then -- having been treated with two awake brain surgeries and hundreds of integrative cancer therapies, my own professional cancer jobs, and many other positions -- I've learned seven key healthy strategies with transformative healing outcomes.
However, droves of medical professionals are proving that traditional cancer care is improved with the addition of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM).
They delivered a conference. They deserve our thanks.

Running a conference is a risky proposition. A lot can go wrong. There’s no guarantee of financially breaking even, let alone making enough money to pay for all the staff time and other expenses that go into presenting such an event. Thankfully, AHMA had an edge this year.
It seemed like the energy just kept rising higher and higher during the course of the week (which is a very good thing when it is a conference on fatigue!) By the last few days, multiple people enthusiastically told me how much they were loving the conference, that they had learned more and had made more new friends than at any conference they had been to in years. That just makes my “Mama President” side happy!
I got a feel for the richness of our holistic medicine heritage when we convened our first Past Presidents' Council meeting recently. The emails were flying after that meeting, with the Past Presidents sharing information about the AHMA's adventures in maintaining a journal for our members. This journal had its ebbs and flows but was overall a well-appreciated part of the AHMA's heritage. Hearing those stories helped to solidify our own current decisions to create lively and interactive communities on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, our blog and on our website forum.
Executive & Legal Director of ANH-USA

Dear AHMA Members:

On behalf of the Alliance for Natural Health USA (ANH-USA), we want to thank AHMA and its members for taking a stand on genetically modified organisms (GMOs). By endorsing the 2012 California ballot initiative that would have required labeling GMOs, AHMA stands with the ninety percent of Americans who want to know about all the ingredients in their food.

But now we need your help in an even more tangible way.
